Well, went on the 2nd annual Banker's on Bikes Charity Ride. All started off well. Left Edmonton on time, picked up riders in Red Deer and Cochrane. There was about 30 of us in total. Made our way via Hwy 22 and Nanton turnoff to Lethbridge. Had a few 'pops' Friday night and looked forward to the Saturday ride to 'Highway to the Sun' in Glacier Nat'l Park. Made it up and down without incident. We stopped in East Glacier for a quick fuel stop for both bikes and riders. Headed out the long way around.. for a quicker pace.. we were going just about to Browing Montana when the 'missadventure' happened. The rider 2 ahead of me hit the brakes hard as she came up on the left turn with her hubby now having to do the same as he was too close to her and I too close to him (now seeeing that in hindsight). I remember seeing his front wheel getting VERY close to the shoulder of the road and I thought that if I was able to pull hard left maybe.. just maybe I would be able to avoid hitting him and wrecking us both. I don't remember the next second or two, but am told that I locked my brakes and went into skid and put my left leg down. What I do remember is skidding and then rolling across the highway and into the ditch (which is when my bike.. obviously looking for my touch promply landed on top of me). I was wearing heavy jeans, gloves and helmut (my nice riding jacket was neatly tucked away for safe keeping as it was to warm to wear it) . Ambulance from Browning came and collected me and took me to the little hospital there. Very nice EMT's and Doctors. What they discovered is that I broke my fib & tib just above my ankle and shattered the tib just below my knee on my left leg. As well, I have 2 small puncture wounds on my right leg along with some nasty road rash. Right arm by elbow got some good road rash and my left arm required many stitches as I had a nasty gash about 5in long down to the bone. One huge bruise on my left hip and butt area which makes sitting down interesting for the most part.

All in all I think I survived well. Doc's say no weight on the leg for 6-8 weeks and off work 12-14 weeks (I'm gonna go nuts)

Not quite sure how the bike is, it's still in Montana. I'm working on bringing it back up next week to Canada. Insurance gal said from my description, I will be just getting a check from them.

What I know is wrong with the bike
1. Dented Tank
2. All lights missing
3. Rear seat ripped off
4. Back rest ripped off
5. Saddle bags and mounts ripped off
6. Buggered front fender
7. seriously bent rear fender
8. some small scarring on engine

I will post pics of both myself and the bike when available (I have my xray pics but they won't load up)

A guy just has to laugh about it, not much else to do now.

Too bad my riding season was cut short
