One possible way they could curtail the sniping would be to makle it so no bids could be placed by a member who hasn't bid before in the last hour.So anyone interested would have to bid at least an hour before the item ends, once that bid has been placed then bidding can continue until it ends. So you could place an initial bid then try and snipe.
