If you don't mind competing during purchase, one can find some deals on used items there, for instance, my 05 Speedmaster with a depreciation enhanced price of 1,200 miles on it, a name brand open box mini stereo for my daughter's dorm room for $25, a used yet defect free Olympus pro-sumer level digital camera for half price, & a new Vega flip open helmet for $40 less than retail. I used to manage a small 'fleet' of cell phones at my former job. I've purchased a dozen or so used phones there and never had a problem with any of them. I sold a Triumph Chevron rain suit there for pretty close to retail. (It was a nice suit, but a challenge to button up for a fat guy) There's no way I could have moved it for that amount in this little town o' mine. On the other hand, I contemplated moving a low mileage still under warranty rag top V 8 Mustang there, but the top prices from their recently completed auction history section showed at best, NADA wholesale pricing.

I haven't always won, but with the bid up to feature, I can avoid paying more than an item is worth. Chalk up the losses to someone else was willing to pay more. If it's an I gotta have it item, I may battle it out in the last minute.

The accountability feature of ebay sellers via the feedback system is a plus. I've been buying new motorcycle items there just because I can generally count on prompt shipping from the ebay stores. Can't say the same for most other online motorcycle supply vendors.
