That's funny Newt,

My grandpa used to live with us and a bit hard of hearing. He was mostly German and had a loud voice on the phone. When somebody'd call he'd say "Halloe, Halloe". Anyway last year a marketer called and being part German, I started saying "Halloe, Halloe?, Halloe?" during the sales monologue. Same result as you, guy swore at me and hung up, which I didn't think was very polite.
