Where can I get a tool to remove the gas tank emblem?
Yeah it's fast. It's blue and it has flames.

Pete: Can you tell me the mm size of the tank emblem fasteners? I have a number of old, allen keys and can just drill the security hole in the right size. (ie: I'm a cheapskate!)

They really are pretty inexpensive. I got a set at AutoZone for about $12 or so. A security torx will work on other screws as well, so it may not be a bad investment. If you don't do any of your own wrenching, the local shop (or any cycle shop) should be able to do a changeout for you at no cost, since it takes less than a minute. Or you could find a local BA.com member near you who has one, or one of us could just send you a loaner. It's pretty easy.

Hey Al, it's not really an allen head size, it's a T30 Torx, which is the same size as all the other Torx screws on the bike, side covers, etc. I bought a couple Torx drivers at the local Ace hardware, and they happen to be the security kind... Check it out.

Gentlemen, Watch out when using hollow ( security) torx bits on anything other than badges etc. I bought a set of snap on torx bits when I shimmed out the valve clearances on my 03america (12000k service) I got the hollow ones so I could use "em for the badges as well and snapped it on the third cam cover bolt I tried to loosen. Apparently (as the snap -on dude told me) the hollow torx bits rely on the raised section in the centre of the screw for strength and if you use them on open torx screws there is a fair chance they will break as mine did. I suppose it all boils down to the right tool for the job. Man, Imagine if that broken piece of torx bit had fallen down where the cam chain comes up between the cylinders. I still have nightmares about that!!!!! Be bloody careful when you do engine work
