just heard one of our group of Avanced Riders Vi Guisbourne was involved in a bad accident on the way home from an observed ride out today. She is currently in Worcester Royal Infirmary.

Her husband who witnessed the accident was obviously very upset and another of the group and his wife who were also present went to the hospital with her.

They initially reported that she had not regained conciousness and was on a ventilator. her son, daughter and husband were with her and were staying the night.

Her son has just updated us and says that the hospital are deliberately keeping her asleep to let things 'settle down' . X-rays and CT scans have not revealed any serious injuries of her head and spine but she may have a broken right arm. She was put on a ventilator as a precaution and to ensure a good supply of oxygen to the brain.

He seems fairly optimistic and that the doctors said she would probably wake up "with a massive headache" but be OK.

Lets hope.

Oh man that's too bad, even with the promising outlook that is still a lot of shock for a body to go through. Let alone have loved ones witness it. Hope every one is doing OK.

just heard that Vi is ok. No broken bones but aching like heck.

She's awake but can't remember anything about Sunday. She's worrying about how much her bike repairs are going to cost and complaining about having her new leathers and helmet cut off by the paramedics......As you all know - vital signs of recovery for a Biker although doctors might use more scientific data....

She still in ITU because they can't get a bed on the ward at the moment. As soon as she's eaten solids, etc etc she should be discharged.

Sadly, in the same county, two Bikers were killed last night in separate incidents both involving cars.

Hi Michael

Hope she is alright, and recovers quickly, pressume this accident involved a cage of some sort. Thoughts go to her family and close friends

Lets hope she fairs better than her leathers- were the boots ok though?

Can you tell us any details of the cause/lead up to the accident?

Lets hope she makes a "speedy" recovery

Don't know yet but I'll find out more next week - and the accident details.

I'll pass on the well wishes

Just an update.

Vi is up and walking but not very well, needing lots of support on either side. Consequently She has had to have another head and spine scan to see if there is a problem but again no damage was evident.

She is being kept in and undergoing physio at least for another week until they can find out if it is more than bruising causing the problem.

Her leathers were destroyed by the Paramedics but her Arai helmet apparently was unmarked. Several members wondered if there was a 'test' to see if it was damaged internally. Obviously as a 'one incident only' piece of kit it will be replaced, so even if the test was destructive it wouldn't matter. It might give the medics some more info to see if she took a significant blow to the head.

Her family want her to quit riding but she is adamant that as soon as she is fit she will ride.

Gutsy lady.

No one on the ride with her will discuss the circumstances of the accident and the group leader has asked everyone not to comment to the press. As an advanced riding group with several MC Cops and instructors as members and on the ride out, obviously the local anti- bike press are itching to lay some blame on bikes and bikers.
