ok, i've picked up a drag specialties mini speedo. i'm trying to figure out how to roll the miles numbers forward to match my stock one. i tried the drill and managed to go "5 1/2 miles" before the soumd made the dog howl.
any other ways? it seems to be sealed.
keep drilling?

TIA,

Why do you need to roll it forward? Are you planning on selling your stock speedo? Just keep it around and if you sell it you can add the odometers together.

At least temporarily you can start by flipping the p-clamp around. That might give you enough cable until you can find an adapter or order up a new cable.

i'll take a couple pics.

Will that fit into the tach/clock hole on the dash plate? Our bikes would look a lot cleaner without that bigasz speedo hanging off the front.

it's about 1/2" too tall without breaking off the tab in back of the dash. and it looks like it would need a different adapter to get the speedo cable in without a serious bend in it.

I really hate to keep worshiping at the alter of Bruiser, but I believe it has the DS speedo and Mark made a spacer/stand-off to make it fit in the dash.

After looking again, that cable run would be challenging.
That is sure where that speedo belongs.

You own a Triumph cruiser. By now you should know you've got to roll your own custom bits.

You gotta find some kind of tubing (PVC, perhaps) that fits the gauge, then cut your own spacer. Might take some experimenting to get the angle just right. But you can get an idea from the picture above and the other pics in Case's photopost gallery.

Nice work. Does that digital speedo still drive off the cable or is it electronic?

If it's Dakota Digital I don't think direct-drive off the cable is an option. They have a little gadget that the cable attaches to that converts the input to an electronic signal, then it's wiring from there.

Interesting, that might make it easier to install in the dash.

Trouble is, the DS speedo is mechanical. You'd have to go digital to mechanical rather than mechanical to digital. Sully needs mechanical-mechanical, just a longer cable.

There's gotta be a way. I don't suppose anyone makes a short extension that threads on to the standard cable end?

I'm going to look towards Honda Goldwing cables and Bmw cables. On Ebay, I saw a couple with the right drive connector at the wheel-just a little short. I'll find one!!

If you look at the side picture of the bike, it looks to me that the cable goes under the tank. The "little gadget" could be mounted under the tank and it would be wire from under the tank to the Dakota Digital speedo....I would like the tach on the bars and the speedo down low....

I wasn't aware it was that difficult. If anything, the Drag Specialties mechanical speedo is the bigger hassle.

Hi, Sully, Its got to be worth the hassle to get rid of that bean can hanging off the bars. It will look like this, so much better.

Now we can get rid of the turn signals as well.

I'll change it! Been looking around at honda and bmw cables i've seen on Ebay, etc. I've got a 10" mini ape bar coming in the mail too.
I can't see from the angle, that a tach or speedo in the dash?

Its a Tach at the moment, but hopefully this winter a speedo of some sort will replace it, either a Dakota or a simple cycle digital. Also looking at a billet housing for a cycle speedo from Zodiac Customs which fits on the bars between the risers.
Looks good but if I can fit it in the tank I will.

Al.......the Dakota digital has a few ways to drive it. I used a pulse generator (Dakota part) mounted under the fuel tank, which the speedo cable mounts to, with an adaptor, and sends a signal to the speedo. It calibrates easy to any size wheel in minutes. Also has trip, and odo.
