I can't fathom why Triumph would remotely consider changing it's traditional tank design to this new 2008 one.

IMHO the traditional tank has been one of the defining and unique characteristics of the Triumph. When people see it they immediately know what it stands for. It's part of why I bought my Speedmaster. All they need to do now is to trash the tried and true vertical engine and slap in an hd/jap like v-twin. Then what they will have is a motorcycle that will look like every other bike running up and down the road. It's a big mistake....Reminds me of that 'New Coke' decision that Cocacola never really got over. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
