I may be overreacting, and I may be getting too close to a moderated line, but I gotta share this with ya'll. Night before last at about 11:00pm, I get an email from my boss- the CIO that was sent to the Sr. management team, stating from now on we are no longer allow to use the terms September 11th or 9-11. If we need to use the date in a discussion, we are to call it "the day after September 10th." I blew a tile when I read this. I'm thinking of sending it into all the local radio and news shows. I wrote him an email stating that in respect to those who died that day in 2001, their families, and my family now serving in our military, I would NOT comply. I may have committed career suicide, but I gotta stand up for my beliefs... I need an emoticon with a AR15!!!

Cowboy, I can't imagine the circumstances that would make someone make such a BONEHEADED declaration (your CIO), did he elaborate on WHY that "term" is now Verboten? Yeah, I'd be mightily steamed!!! And I'm quite sure that someone will recalibrate him poste haste unless you work for the Iranian Embassy....

Where does this leave June 6th, July 4th, or, Nov 11th, May 31st (now incorrectly celebrated) on the aforementioned BONEHEAD's calendar? Or is the oil biz getting overly sensitive due to the nationality of the perps?

From here on in, I would always refer to ANY day as the day after the previous day. That ought to confuse things plenty.

errrr no, that would be the Japanese. The Germans bombed London amongst others, but not Pearl Harbour. In fact the Germans were trying to keep America neutral and OUT of the war as they were having a hard enough time trying to defeat the allies without yet another front.

I think you should stand your ground as well, me personally, I would make a mockery of the new policy like refering to Sept. 11th as June 9th plus 93 days or seeming to forget what it's supposed to be called by saying "oh, what was that day, I think it was in late summer or fall, the one where terrorists flew planes in a couple of buildings and meny people died, I think a lot of rescue workers gave their lives trying to combat the damage and save the survivors... oh, what was that day again, I think were supposed to call it something but I can never remember what it is..."
Let my dying thought be that every mile was fun and let my tombstone read,"They never made one fast enough for me."

The funny thing here is I just started a thread on another forum in the light of I cannot understand why the Americans are so bent on this anti war campaign latterly. There always seems to be some one trying to demean what your troops are doing for those at home. I just cannot get my mind around this but this one sure take the cake that is for sure. I would also send the e-mail to the media but as you say you are committing career suicide here.

Hey, how come we don't care about the 42,000 people who are killed on the highways every year? We just clean them up and go on like it's nothing.

If it isn't, then that boss o' yours definately IS a moron! (Hey...but don't feel alone there, kid! In my many years in the workforce I must have worked for literally SCORES of people like this!!!....thank God I'm retired now!!!)

Shush, there "Interesting"! Haven't you seen the latest memo???!!!
The Boss says we're not to talk about that EITHER!!!!
(Ya see people....Don't get MAD..."the secret" is to make people like this moron of a Boss look reeeeeeaaaallllly STUPID using SARCASM.....This tact not only helps you keep your cool and your mind sharp, but eventually most of these kind o' yo-yo bosses "get it"....in fact, every once in a while my old boss used to come into my office just to get his ration of abuse from ME!!!....I think he was some kind of a masochist in that regard)

I would bet this incident has gone around the world by now and if the media only knew, major networks would be knocking on this boneheads door. I thought I had worked for some stupid people in my life, but this just absolutely beats anything I have ever heard of!

Sorry guys! But my take on this whole piece of PC stupidity has little to do with the cause of "supporting our troops" in their brave stuggle to resist and fight the stupidity of other cultures that fail to have a history of FREE SPEECH, and has almost everything to do with the idea that FREE SPEECH is the American, and indeed the Western philosophy of ENLIGHTENMENT that has served us well in this country and whereever people have the right to call bosses such this an IDIOT for trying to subvert the LANGUAGE, domestically.

Bet he'd really blow a gasket if you said 'Voldemort' out loud. What if you were to "forget" and refer to 9/12 as 'the day after the trade center was destroyed'? Speaking of 9/11 and all that, I think they completely dropped the ball with the plans for that site. They should have rebuilt the towers exactly as they were to show the terrorists that we refuse to be terrified and they just wasted their time and people.

Ahem....Michael. Let's not turn this into a "political" thing here, okay?!
I'll bet even that fat-*** Michael Moore doesn't want to have to change the title of that movie o' his to (get this)..."Fahrenheit The Day After 9/10"!!!
