Someone on the Rat.net forums posted this website on modifying a garage door remote and mounting a wired switch on a motorcycle:
Garage Opener Modification
I completed the mod today, after experimenting on my wife's truck.
Previously, I had purchased a Genie brand key-chain remote, made a small bracket and had it mounted under my tank. A little cumbersome to reach, small chance someone else would see and steal it.
This mod took all of about 25 minutes to complete. I bought a black, momentary switch at Radio Shack ($2.50).
I mounted the switch on the black "wing" off the left fake air-cleaner. The remote is tucked under the wire cover beneath the seat, pretty weather-proof.
I mulled over putting it in my console, where the blank is located but one day want to relocate my driving lights to that area.
