But if we did that then what would be wrenching on. There must be something to do over the winter months or well lose our minds.

Well, you could still wrench but you'd get more gains for the same mod!!!

In my example, substitute hp for torque.

I have 0 personal experience with them
So after all your negative posts on the CRs, it's just a personal bias based solely on cost?
Jeez, and I had thought you were a credible information source.

or get some TM 36mm mikunis which are a superior carb
So do you have any reliable information to back this 'claim' up?
Patriot, thanks for the kind words. While I don't have experience with the CRs directly, I know what a Roundslide Carb is, and I know what a Flatslide carb is, and I have experience with both, and I also understand the sizing of carbs. A Roundslide that is SMALLER THAN STOCK will not perform like a Flatslide carb will that is stock size or larger. Hence, a waste of money.

I would like to check Eurosport Cycles sometime though. Maybe one weekend I'll ride up.
Look me up when you get here and I'll go with you. Show you a great burger joint with cold drafts. I was in Austin last week. it was a one day trip for business, but I thought of you guys. Been 12 years since I was there- still weird as ever... and the people drive like they they would rather see you dead than make a lane change! Still, cool though. I miss the Lake Travis trips.
Back on topic, my buddy picked up 5 hp (dyno'd at Eurosport) with the CR's - FWIW.
2002 Bandit 1200/ GSXR cams/ 1277 BB Kit/ Holeshot header and can/ 38mm flatslides/ a good head/lotsa hp/lotsa tq- lots of rear tires...

I've done a few quick calculations but stock bike (55hp) with a 180lb person puts out 185hp/ton. For someone weighing 250lbs to get that figure, they'd have to find an extra 7-8 horses.
I think that is a brilliant way to put it all in perspective and it really makes a lot of sense. Great work!

you could say that for every 10 lbs you weigh over 180, you need an extra 1 horsey!!!
I've picked up 4HP in the past couple of months! And here I thought I was just trying to avoid heart disease. I didn't realize there were even better reasons for losing weight!

Dang, Lizzy's not going to like having to lose 40 pounds...she'll just think I'm calling her fat..

Cool about your buddy and his 5hp. I expect about twice that out of flatslides, but they are more expensive (especially the HSRs).
I'll look you up if/when I head to Dallas. I don't have any plans to anytime soon, but it's not far too so what the ******..., someday.

Ok, so to sort've re-ask the question... the 988 BB kit would be more than $3,000 installed, as compared to the $904 which is in the neighborhood of $1,000 - $1,500 ish?
Zoinks. Ok, that does make a BIG difference in future planning. Wow. (I'm looking for correction or confirmation here, please.)
Sheesh. I knew was more work involved but didn't know it was THAT much more between the 904 and the 988. For that sort've money, just go out and buy an old used sportbike (SV650) for your power kicks, and keep the Speedy for style.
The point of diminishing returns is a peculiar thing.

Maybe this will help. The 904 kit exists and you can get one right now. The 1500 may not exist at all or, if it does, might be available in years or not at all.

You got a lot of feedback. If a 1500 interest you, rest assured a 904BB is not comparable but it does exist where the 1500 is fantasy at this point.

The more I ride my bike, the more I like it. I'm thinking more and more why I like the bike. I didn't want a heavy Harley, even though all the friends I ride with have them. I'm not so sure a heavier Triumph cruiser is what I really need. Who am I trying to impress? The fact that there will be a bigger cruiser isn't going to make my bike get any less attention.
A little more power for the 2-up riding is probably all I need. My favorite appearance feature of the bike is the classic Triumph headers coming out of the left and right cylinders. A radiator might just ruin that look even though it's a parallel twin. There's nothing classic Triumph about a Rocket. Even though the Rocket is a great bike - not what I was looking for.

Talked to a guy and his wife up in Oregon a couple of years ago they where on a Victory. He had traded his America in on it .They were tall people and not exactlly skinny. He said he loved his America, but not enough power.I got an 865Speedmaster,but I am only 5'7" and 185 lbs.My wife hardly rides now.So I guess if you are big people the new 1500cc might be great,or dare I say the Victory .

Unfortunately I owned an 1100cc Goldwing.I am embarrassed to admit. What a piece of @#$%^! I know people love them,I hated it.Bought it for cheap transportation.Got it running and I had never rode one before, what a mistake .Kept that tank for a year.Got a smaller Honda CB900C after that.Enjoyed the 900 much more, lighter smaller, faster.Give me my Speedmaster over those two anyday.
