And now for something completely different... Just tinkerin' on my bike today. I bought at pair of 1-3/4" slash-cut turndowns and 2 clamps. I slid them on where my pipes should be and fired her up. Wow is it loud! I'm going to take her for a little scoot and see how much low-end I'm losing but these "pipes" could rival my Father-in-Laws Screamin' Eagle. If it works out ok I take some pics. After I spray them with a little high-temp black of course. 1 can of black hi-temp $8.29 2 clamps $3.98 2 turndowns $13.98 Waking my neighbors' neighbors, PRICELESS. edit> I found the part # for my short TOR's. # A9608027 . The dealer told me that these are not listed in the accessory brochure. These pipes have a straight thru design with no baffle?<edit

You can get some small 4" baffles that won't effect sound but will give you some back pressure. Available at J&P cycles and many many other places they will slip right in those pipes. Cost less than $5.

I'm back with pics... I stopped at my shop and a few of the Hardly riders there were impressed by the sound my bike was making. One did comment that he has herd louder Hardlys( so I shouldn't have any problem with the police) Here's the pics sans paintjob. I'm thinking about getting chrome tips so they won't have those ripples at the bend? These are very throaty at idle and snappy under acceleration but still only purr on the highway. (It does sound kinda like a smooth running hardly at idle)

Do those Khrome Werks pipes bolt on or are they just held on by the hose clamp? Do they have some sort of baffle and how loud are they? I have short TORs which I like, but don't flow as well as some of the pipes other people run. So I think I either have to go down from #130 mains to 128 if I keep the TORs or put on some better flowing pipes... hmmm. Might be worth a try at that price.

they just clamp on with the original clamp (mine went on a little tight though). i like the pipes and they are loud!! i think they were easily worth the price. mine did have a bracket on the pipe for mounting that i had to cut off. hope this helps---------cliff

I bought a set of those for my Speedy. They went on easily (after I lightly sanded the inside of the coupling). I found them to be too loud for my tastes. My neighbors would be calling the cops when I left for work at 0600hrs every day. Now they have been added to the pile of stuff in the garage cataloged as "Tried, but not appreciated"....

i/ve been running these turnouts ever since the original thread. like the sound... but i want louder! i acually attempted to open up the flap on the inside to make them a little more wide open... it was hard as ******.
cliff, what did you use to cut the bracket off? the ultimate goal is the high temp powdercoat them black and wrap the headers black as well.

These pipes are da bomb!!!!! I think they sound better than the $350 Bubs I had on there but now these shorties from Khromewerks are staying on.
I cut my RH side bracket off with a dremel on each weld and then popped the bracked off, the LH side I left on but once again
THESE PIPES ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!

i switched my specialty spares out for these cheapo khromewerks and am not too sure i'll be going back.
one thing to watch out for though is that when these pipes are hot, the chrome is easily scuffed or scarred. i'll be painting them black sometime soon to cover up some major scratches in the chrome.

Here is one- you should know the bracket shows on the left side. It's not bad, but it is there.
Yes you will need a rejet. Ask your dealer how much.

Ya know, I never did take the Speedy for a ride with those pipes on. Maybe I should do that before I totally discount them....

here's another picture... if it helps.
my bike was previously re-jetted to accomodate Specialty Spares. I left that jetting the same with these pipes and they sound good. thorn

Happy days are here again! I picked up a similar set of Emgo 19" turnout mufflers from my local dealer last Saturday. $40.00!!!! And the brackets appear to me positioned to be useful on both sides. Now I've got more sets of exhaust than I can shake a stick at!! That's a good thing... Merry Christmas all, Jim

Had those turnouts on bike for about two years, rejetted to 130, 1 shim and 4'' baffle in front. Mounted bracket to where the center stand might be, see pics in my gallery, have now painted them matt black.

Ok so I got a set of Khrome Werks and I'm just wondering when you go to slip them on do they slip onto the outside of the pipe or the inside? My brother-in-law is helping me do it and I wasn't sure how you guys are putting them on. I know someone had also said they might need a little sanding to fit.

it's a tight fit for sure. i just used WD-40 (some people say it's bad to use but oh well) and a little elbow grease. I think, THINK, they slip on the outside, but not completely sure. well worth the 20-something bucks though.
You get what you pay for as far as chrome is considered. I still plan on high-temp powdercoat soon. Thorn

Just wondering how do these 30 buck slipons sound in comparison to the Scepters? In terms of overall DB levels from idle to throttle up.

Well I finally got to hear mine run with these pipes...and although a lot of people were saying they are ear splitting loud I really didn't think they were all that loud, they are loud, but not that loud. I will say though, I really like how they sound. I think I will be very happy with these!

I'll tell it to you like this clanrickarde. I switched out my specialty spares for these just to test them, and I haven't switched back.
Now, I've got a 550 dollar pair of pipes sitting in the corner with 25 dollar pipes on my bike.
They're not "ear splitting" but loud enough to make an impression. I still wish they were a little louder though.
