Calling all Bonneville America Forum riders in Europe & near by countries!
While I was in Sweden with Piper & Gooseman chewing the cud, as you do We thought it might be a good idea to arrange a get together of all the guys & Gals from the site that live in Europe & near by. Maybe a long weekend in Holland or somewhere that is easy for us all to get too. We can't let our brothers & Sisters accross the pond have all the fun
What we need first is a indication of how many would be interested, then we can look for dates, venues, campsites etc.
Let me know what you all think?

Martyn If you have to ask why I ride, you wouldn't understand the answer!

Yes, let's make this happen! May I humbly suggest the UK including a visit at the Hinckley plant? I bet you can supply lots of nice roads to explore and beautiful scenery to admire. I already know you have the beer... From Scandinavia we can take the ferry to Newcastle which takes 24h. Anyway, I think it's great that you've started this already. Gives us lots of time to plan ahead.
Did I say I'm in?

The ferry?
Is that like the European version of a motorcycle trailer?

Good one! Nah, it's just a little troublesome to ride over the North Sea. I'm afraid the air intake is positioned a little too low on our bikes to make the trip
Actually, bike trailers are pretty uncommon here. Our riding season is so short so we prefer to be in the saddle the whole weekend they call summer...

Yea I know, just a bit of friendly nad poppin.
That would be way cool if you Euros had a meet too. If we keep this up, who knows, Triumph might, I repeat, might actually recognize our existance. Alsmot an epifany of sorts for the corps at the Hinckley plant?

Good one Piper,

Reminds me of the old Wyoming saying "If summer falls on a weekend this year, let's have a picnic". I actually turned on the furnace for a few minutes the other day, Not a Good Sign of Things to Come.

Good Luck planning your ride. Appreciate every mile.

Hiya Martyn
Thanks for calling, I missed this thread this morning (limited internet access at the moment as mentioned earlier!!).

Sounds like a great idea - count me in.

I'm like the Martini bird me - anytime, anyplace, anywhere

I appreciate these things need quite some organising so if you're taking on the job of co-ordinator, let me know anything I can do to help.

Why, you're too good to us!
The idea of a Euro get-together and you're happy to come to us!
We wouldn't even have to get on the ferry

Add to that, we don't have to change our money and we (sorta) speak the language already

I was there, where were you??

Nightmare on the holiday front!!!
I should have departed these shores last Friday.
The weekened before, I was doing a job at my wife's house which took longer than expected and therefore resulted in:
1. Me feeling guilty about leaving my wife with no garden wall(!),
2. Me getting bitten to buggery by insects of some sort resulting in being covered in, what can best be described as weaping sores over my legs!!!,
3. Too much work to leave alone for two weeks!!

(I went back this weekend with trousers on to cover the legs and ended up getting more weaping sores on the arms )

I will be trying to get away for a couple of 2-3 day breaks over here plus knocking off the occasional day for a ride-out.

I was really looking forward to 'doing' Italy and will definately try, if not later this year (September?), next year.

Either way, if you can make the planned Euro meet, that would be great.

Adey,

What do you mean where was I???
I was on the pier with a MASSIVE banner saying "WELCOME ADEY, HOPE YOU BROUGHT THE JAFFA CAKES!"

Sorry your planned ride was ruined. Hope you make it soon.

Hi Bedouin

I think a trip to Europe would be good too, what do you all reckon to somewhere in Germany? it should be fairly central for most of us & there are lots of campsites around.
P.S you have to come & help me keep the Speedmaster flag flying
Take it easy

Hi Martyn,

Germany is fine with me.
I am hoping you guys have a summer date in mind as I'll be coming through Northern Italy and the Austrian Alps and am not too fond of riding in the snow (some difficult parts).
If not it's still ok, I'll manage (I have done it before).

Hi Bedouin

I was thinking of either June, July or August, can't have a Speedmaster getting cold or dirty in the Snow, it's not on

Hi Martyn,

Germany in June, July or August is fine with me, if it is ok with Piper, Adey and whoever else is interested.

Sure. Mid June - mid August is perfect. It really doesn't matter where, as long as we can make this happen. I've heard though that loud pipes are totally banned in Germany and that could be a problem...

I think you may have a good point there.
I wonder what the HD boys do? Requires investigation.

Don't we have a member on the forum from Germany? maybe he could answer the question. We always have the option of the great biker campsite in Jonkoping in Sweden. Lets get as many options as we can

Interest here. June probably best for me, no real preference as to where. Just a thought, but are there any big rallys in Europe that we could piggy-back on?

Good idea that Simon.

Had a ride out to Matlock yesterday - sunshine meant that the streets were empty because it was too warm to ride .... whoa!! drugs kicking in there ... what was I thinking?
Usual chaos with no parking and KTM's wheelying up the road!
Found a parking space after two runs along the main road.

Had a healthy lunch of chips and curry sauce follwed by a nice ride home.

I like the idea of the Black Forest & it would be a good ride for all of us
Do you know of any biker friendly campsites nearby that we could book for a long weekend for the meet?
Speak to you later

Beer & football fans = bad mix!!

Anyway, who says that "goldenballs" & the rest of the overpaid prima-donna's are gonna get there?

Apart from that, count me in.

Hi Guys & Gals
I have been speaking to the Guys in Sweden & they feel maybe Belgium or Denmark would be a good meet point as a couple of them live up North with the polar bears & would have a fair distance to ride for a weekend. If we could link up with a local bike event or Triumph Owners meet we could solve the campisite problem as well Is everyone cool with that idea? We need to start getting the wheels in motion soon if we want this to happen. Let me know your thoughts.

Hi guys
Ive already promised my son we would go to germany for the Football even if England not playing Golden Balls or NOT.
Opened big mouth a few years ago & said we would go to European Championship but never checked dates which clashed with GCSE exams. He wont let go this time round.
Not fair to count my vote so you guys carry on, Good luck with your decision.

Your right about beer & football fans dont mix but if the Irish get through now thats an experience not to miss, never hear of them getting into trouble.
Its the taking part that counts.
Anyway as long as the French dont win.

Hi everybodies

I have been looking at the maps & I think the meet should be somewhere in between Dortmund & Hannover area, there are some good campsites by lakes & it should be fairly central for everyone. What do you think?

Can Peter in Germany confirm about the situation with the police & loud pipes on bikes?.

Because of the distance some will have to travel I think we need to hold it over a long weekend from Friday to Monday in either June or July. If we can't link it with an existing bike event we can book a campsite just for the event. There are plenty of biker friendly sites around.

I am also looking at getting some one off teeshirts printed for the event so I need to know about how many would be interested in coming and what is the average size I guess Large,XL & FB

If you are definately up for it can you drop me an email with your contact details so I can send out details once they have been set.
