None are (or should be) registered as '01s.

+1 (Yep, it's an '02 model. Hinkley, too) Still has the AI intact, probably a good buy from a guy who never abused it.

I think Grzegorz has the oldest bike that we know of. I think he said the manufacture date is 10/01(?). But, it is an '02.
Car manufacturers are the worst. Sometimes a manufacture date can be almost a year and a half ahead of the model year.

Darn it, 09/01. Phil & Moe are a step ahead of me (again). Oh well, they probably sorted the bugs out by the time mine hit the street.

Mine's a 10/01 (had to go look to make sure I wasn't dreaming), bought in 1/02, registered as an '02. And I'm pretty sure it was sitting at the shop since 12/01!!! (took me a little time to finalized the financing) Pretty quick delivery from the factory - maybe thats why I had a gremlin in the ignitor board!!!! But that got fixed with the help of those here (thats how I ended up here!!!) B

Very cool CJ. No prize but you might have bragging rights. Hopefully, Grzegorz will check in soon!

and please remember. Triumph ran all the bikes through the same assembly line at the same time. each bike got a vin # as it went down the line. the bike above or below your # may have been a Bonnie, Sprint , Trophy , Thunderbird or any of the line. the numbers are in order though from low to high. so we can get who has come of the line first. but doesn't it feel good to be in the earliest bunch of pre fire bikes.

Mine says 10/01 143698 Don't you think there is a kind of superstitious awe toward those who own a pre fire bike? I have always called mine an 01 model. But that has always been the way. It was built in 01 therefore here it is an 01. Make sense,to me anyway.

and just to add more interest in the older bikes. look inside the right side airbox cover. first , on the outside it will say Bonniville America. second , on the inside is a sticker about emissions . on that sticker it states the cc's of the motor.
mine says 1180 cc's ???
what does yours say.

Mine has 9/01 and 143353, engine 143902 registered on 27/9/ 01 and used as a demo. Had 860 miles on it and got it for less than £5000, 5 months later. Only had a coil burn out a couple of months ago, so it's been pretty reliable.
