I think I'm almost ready. I took a spin around Lake Champlain today as a warm up @ 350 miles. The weather was perfect and it looks like it is going to hold through the weekend. The bike ran well an I didn't do to bad ethier for a fat old man. I even stopped for a quick dyno in Fort Ann, NY, but I'll start a new thread in Performance Mods to get feed back on that. Pack up tomorrow, good night sleep, early start on Thursday, I should be in Canandaigua by late afternoon, and hopefully at Biker's by early evening. Looking forward to meeting this cast of characters. Question for the locals, is 5 out of Syracuse a good alternative to the Thruway?

OK, Problem here, I just tried making reservations for the rally and it seems that all the motels are full. I never thought there would be that many people going to the rally this year. Ed, Pat, or Matt can you steer me in a direction to check for a room? I kinda procrastinated on making reservations as I wasn't 100% sure about a conference that I have to attend, dates were still up in the air. The conference is now going to be the 24-28 Sep in Hershey, Pa. So I will be on my way Thursday but I need to find a motel. Thanks, Ron
Sorry, I been working new job, not much time on the net. There are plenty of rooms in Canandaigua and the vacinity. There are two motels right next door to the Lafayette, The Pinewood Lodge, Patty's, the Miami, Blue Gables, and a few more I can't think of the names though. the big thing is usually we have the rally the same weekend as the Naples Grape Festival. Not this year though, many fewer tourists this time of year. I really don't think getting a room will be hard once you get here.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

I should have seen the weather report. Overnight it has worsened, and the East coast of Florida up to Virginia, etc. is now in a "tropical disturbance" with squalls expected this afternoon. Can't leave the family in this now that I am still here.
Oh, and I did roll out this morning at 4:45AM to horizontal rain and 30 mile wind gusts. It was all cool not seeing more than a foot in front of me on the slab until the SECOND hydroplane when I am certain I saw either a guy with a hood and a sickle on the side of the road or YOTA. Either way, I was a little shaky afterwards.
I am out unless the weather improves by tomorrow. This has not been my Summer in many ways.

I am the last, well, near the last person to use weather as an excuse not to ride. I am watching. Actually, I am watching my pool drain. It is a litte, no, a lot, high. Now, where is that Turkey?

I don't know.... this looks exactly like when we were heading to GA a few years back. We got to the GA line and it was nothing but blue skies ahead!! If you hurried, you could beat it!!

btw, that trip to GA? moe was about 50 feet in front of me and I could not see his tail light it was raining so hard. That's when I was having a problem with the sidestand switch too! She cut out on me about 3-4 times before we got out of the rain. Wasn't fun but we marched on.... (ahem! Anyone in Daytona paying attention? ) Ryan and I suited up before we hit the worst of it but moe and Lynn never did!! Took a couple hundred miles for them to dry out

Yes a driver's license and birth certificate are sufficient. If asked whether you've ever been convicted be honest. Be honest with all of your answeres and you won't have any problems both entering Canada and returning to the U.S.

yes your driver license will work but it must have a photo on it...and your birth certficate will work also.......bring both
on the DUI DWI... it's all up to the people at the border i have seen people go through with them and i have seen people with them made to go back or pay a fee of $300 if they want to get over the border for the day.. then i also want you to remember it could take 20 min to get across or it could take 6 hours to get over no lie there are only 3 places to cross here and you can't get around them ..and you must take the thru-way or it will take you 4 hours to get there.. on the thru-way will still be about 2 hours each way..
and the is the real deal i cross that border 3 to 4 time month so i know what it takes!!!!!!!

I'm at the Bucky Hilton in Canaan, CT. enjoying Martin, and Carla's hospitality. We should be on the road 9-10ish, with Carla running chase in the rag-top Mustang. If all goes well, eta Lafayette 5-6 PM. See y'all there! Uncle Charlie

Almost ready to roll. Checked the radar, all clear. Only an hour behind schedule. Making up for last night, I was 3 hours late finishing up. Time to sign off. With a good tail wind I should be at the Red Carpet Inn by 16:00 and at biker's @ 18:00. Look for the new guy with the lost expression on his face but a big grin too boot.
