Has anyone contaced Scootworks about belt drives?

I saw this add in Roadbike. They have better prices on belt drives than we have seen for our bikes. Maybe if they knew how many Triumph's were out there they would be interested in creating belt drives for our bikes.

I think someone did contact them a while back.
As I remember, they were told a loaner bike would be needed for development.

From the President of Scootworks.

We are not making any new belt drives at this time. Thank you for your
interest.

That sounds kind of final.

i talked with them a bit a few months ago. i was told that they would be willing to do it if a bike could be dropped off and that person would recieve the part and everything at NO cost. if someone is seriously interested i will give them the name of the person i talked to, but again they NEED a bike to be brought there.

FRANK HAS ALREADY MADE A CONTACT THERE.

He's posted it a few times now....I just don't understand why someone close to the area wouldn't want to drop off their bike to recieve a FREE belt drive!?

I'd do it in a minute if I was close enough. Not have'n a bike for a couple of weeks would be worth the FREE unit.

If you are serious, PM frank.

I'm sure that he would work with you to get a contact person at scootworks and set it up.

There would be quite a few that would buy this unit.

According to their website, they are in Zebulon, NC. Depending on where in Raleigh you are, looks like about 20-30 miles away.....

Sorry guys, I should have told y'all something by now. I have contacted Scootworks by E-mail with no reply as of yet. Also PM w/ Crusty ( as he spoke up first) about if he was going to follow up. He e-mailed them as well, and to my knowledge has not heard from them either. I am going to send another message to Scootworks today.

Update: I finally spoke with a rep from Scootworks. They apparently are not checking E-mail too carefully. Anyway, he said that would be something I'd have to speak to the owner about and that he would give him my info. Will let y'all know how that turns out.

How would their price compare to QPD? I would think with this crowd, availability would go a long way to gaining busines...

Like I said, you are no further than a short ride from them. Why not go see them as they seem to be uncommunicative??

Crusty, undoubtedly a phone call will be a waste of breath. I spoke w/ them and was told the owner would call me back and he has not as yet. THAT WAS OVER A WEEK AGO. A ride to Zebulon looks like the way to go.

I have given up on the whole belt drive issue. Its too freaking expensive for what is available and the lead time to get one is a joke.

It'll be a 530 chain and sprockets for me from here on out.

chains and carbs are what makes our bikes classics!you will always(maybe)be able to purchase a chain wherever and get home...you may not be able to find a belt(purchase two and carry as a spare). We have a friend with over 30000 miles on a 78 yamaha who has never replaced chain. So why spend 900+ if not necessary with proper maintenance!!

dont know of any members here who have gotten 30 thousand miles to a chain yet.

There are a smattering of us running 530 chains. It remains to be seen if they will wear longer than the OEM.

The life expectancy seems to be right around 20K miles.

Between 20 and 21000 mine was at the point where it would be extremely tight in one spot and then very loose.

When your chain exhibits this its time for a new one.
