I have over 18,000 on my OEM chain. I would like to find a DID X-ring chain. But the best price I could find is $198. Bikebandit has the sprockets for $15.20 for 17T front and $28.21 for 42T rear. The dealer wants $58 for the Front and $73 for the rear. What kind of prices are you finding for chains and where to buy them and the same question for the sprockets? Even the stock chain is $198 at the dealer! I'm ready to copy down an extensive list so lets have it?  Steve

OK Yota, I would support Brent but I don't see any chains on his website. I know I'm old and before you say it, I Do Have My Reading glasses on!!!!!!!!!

Does that set include the lock washer for the front? Is the kit set up with the standard 17T and 42T sprockets?
It looks like its a factory chain, Does anyone have a link to a DID Chain?
Where's my $6 million??

The one listed for the America is a 42/17 set and comes with a new washer, both sprockets and the chain - all factory. The one listed for Speedmaster comes with 42/16 sprockets. There doesn't appear to be a number for the current 42/18 combination yet.

Do you have to replace the front sprocket along with the chain/rear sprocket?
I'm at 22k, guessing my bike is due at the end of this season.

the set comes with both sprockets, chain, front sprocket lock washer, and soft link.....

Hey Al, some people (me included) change it all (chain ring (aka, rear sprocket), chain, front sprocket, and a hard look at the cush drive). Others turn the front sprocket around to use up the other side and change out the chain and chain ring.

I would always change the 3 as a set to prevent early chain wear. Even turning the sprocket around is a bad idea in my opinion since that side sees wear on decleration although not as much.

I wish I'd read that "cush drive" tip before I took mine apart for its chain and sprocket set.....at 21,000 miles, there's a bit of play in mine.....looks like the wheel will be coming off again.....as far as skipping the changing of the front sprocket - once the rear wheel and chain are off, the front sprocket can be changed in just a few minutes....I think you should consider what its condition is going to be when the new chain is 10,000 miles old, not what it looks like when you renew the chain....$200 every 20,000 miles or so is pretty cheap maintanence...

Thanks for all the info guys! Especially that "Earl of Liqourville" guy! The dealer found an aftermarket EK Quadra 525 X-ring 120 links w/master link for 121.99. He also gives me the 10% RAT discount. He can't get a DID for less than the same price as the Stock chain.($198.) He also has this one in stock so I just have to pick up a tool and take out 8 links. So thanks again and ya'll beware of the Earl of Liquorville!  Steve

One word of caution; some aftermarket catalogues list same rear sprocket for standard Bonnie line and our bikes. They are not the same. Completely different bolt pattern.

Thanks Lonzo, That is one of the questions I asked. I called the dealer back and he found JT sprockets for our bikes. I gave him my Eng # and VIN # to verify the correct sprockets.
By the way, Bikebandit does have OEM sprockets and Chain but they are the same price as the dealers so no break there.
the aftermarket sprockets at bikebandit are for the Bonneville 800 not the America or Speedy.
Lonzo you were right.
My dealer found the JT sprockets for $19 for the 17T and $36 for the 42T. better than $131 for factory sprockets.

Problem is......I just looked at TriumphStore and the part numbers are reversed from what they are on the Triumph site for Ameria and SpeedMaster. Triumph lists A9618019 for Amerca and A9618015 for SpeedMaster. TriumphStore has A9618015 for America and A9618019 SpeedMaster. Not sure what to do.

"I always flip or change the front sprocket about every oil change. (Front sprockets are only $19 and are very quick and easy to swap out. Front sprockets should also wear out about 3 times faster than the rear sprockets, i.e. according to the gear ratios.)" I only flip the sprocket once, then I throw it away (after 12,000 miles) since they are so cheap and so influencial on the chain wear.
As for the cush drive, I have a couple of thousand miles on homemade inserts. There are 5 identical inserts, one in each section, behind the straight portion of the original cush drive. These inserts are small tabs (about 1 by 2 inches) I cut from a rubber baseboard (about 1/8th inch thick). This baseboard was made to cover the bottom of a house wall where it meets the floor and can be bought from Lowes' or Home Depot or a lumber yard. I have less than 1/8th inch "slop" in the cush drive now, and it shifts gears better than when the bike was new. Cost: $4 total.

Now that's an interesting tip! Any idea what this items is called at Lowe's? Guess it would be in the flooring section?
