Anyone using the freak? What can I expect in performance? Was tuning difficult? I dont have a dyno available.
Currently running a K&N filter in the stock air box AI removed and TOR shorts.

I have one...recently instaled along with the jets, pipes and drilled slides. The bike feels quicker response wise and certainly gets up and goes. INstall was easy after I got the right instructions. I took it slow and easy and just enjoyed. Heres the link to the thread wherer you can get the info: "Im a Freak now" thread and if you need some education on carbs check this out: "Shims...I dont get it" thread. Lonzo provided a link to a great site for carb info and education.

Just a little update. Put the freak in last night. Boy that was interesting. Luckily my friend has a lift. Otherwise it would have been REALLY interesting. Anyway everything is in and the bike is running. I did not have a chance to romp on it yet to see the difference as it started raining and I did not want to ride it hard in the rain.
Bike ran like crap before the jets were installed. But afterwards it seems just fine. NewSpeedMaster supplied the kit. All brakets, Filters, Pre-Filters, ToolBox, and jets(160s). The jets are the only thing I changed after the install. I will update later on the performance.

Of course it ran like crap after the install but before you installed the jets (which are actually part of the install). The words, "dangerously lean," come to mind.

Eagerly waiting for the 1500... Cant wait to see it.
BTW... after I took out the Carbs I noticed a black tube that ran between both carbs. It has a nipple on it.(place for hose) There nothing connected to it though.... Should there be? Again, It is a black tube on the rear of the carbs connecting them together with a nipple coming out like a 'T' and pointed on a 45 degree angle downward towards the swing arm.
F^&%$ing service manual does not show it and doesnt have an expanded view of the carbs.

Thats a balance tube that went to the AI. Remove it and cap both nipples on the carbs.

Ok... Then it is supposed to be bare... Thought I pulled something and did not notice. The dealer pulled the AI out for me so I never knew how it was setup...

I do believe that is the bowl vent. There is a hose running down underneath the bike on mine. You may want to put a hose back on there because if a needle valve every sticks open you'll have a bike covered in fuel.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger......and then it hit me.

Agreed,
It is the bowl vent. A hose should be in place running downward for the very reason nolgoc stated, possible fire hazard related to a sticking needle valve. If you look, you should see the hose still in place. Look under your bike on the left side by the swing arm hinge and trace the end up. Plug it in if it is there.
