Yes. You may ride in the carpool lane. And when traffic gets really bad you may split the lane between the carpool and fastlane...there are 2 double yellow lines than you can ride on and it gives you about 3 to 5 feet between cars. Just beware of folks jumping in and out of the carpool lane.
Its illegal but people don't seem to care.
