They can't just take over Triumph. Triumph is not a publicly traded company. They would have to buy Triumph from John Bloor and I doubt if he is selling. So you can throw that on the heap of rediculous buy-out rumers like Honda Buying out HD (that one has been around for 30 years).

Yeah, but wouldn't just be TOO funny if Honda DID buy HD?

I found it amusing that the article refered Triumph as a cult, top-end European brand. Ain't that the truth! Even if they could take over, do those clowns think that any one would buy their bikes? Any way Soren has a point. Triumph is a privatly owned company and Bloor would have to sell, but why would he sell a company that is on the verge of becoming a monster and and becoming one of the big boys on the motorcycle market? I not loosing sleep over this one.

Khatt, I'm not going to loose any sleep either. But Mr.Bloor would not be the first entrepreneur to build up a company and sell it to the highest bigger while it's hot. Of course if he did sell he would have to leave merry ole England. Go on take the money and run----whoo,whoo,whoo. Let's hope not. Mike

I have not read the article. So if im talking out of my behind then appologies to all.
BUT. Would i buy a Triumph if it was Indian owned. Depends on a few factors. I dont think a machine, be it car or bike looses its identity because the head office is in a foreign land. Case in point.
I am a Jaguar fanatic. I love Jags. Have done for years, and at the first chance i had at finaly affording to buy one of these beautiful British cars i did, a 2002 to be exact. BUT...to all sense and purposes, this is an American car. Owned by Ford. Now if someone was to tell me i was driving an american car i'll knock their teeth out. Its British, built in England. Dont really care were the financial profits,or in Jags case losses go.
And the same would be for Triumph. At at the end of the day, who built it, and is it good quality. Indian owned, Amercian owned, Russian owned, it would still be a british bike in my eyes.
Correct me if im wrong, but wasnt Ducati Amercian owned for a while. Nowadays, many "Marquee" brands are foreign owned. Aston Martin is American owned, how many of you would turn down a Aston. Not me. Hellfire, Rolls Royce is German....GERMAN! And the new Mini....BMW. A german car with a Union Jack on the roof.
And blow me over, BUT. My beloved Arsenal is on the verge of becoming American owned.
We live in a global world. Not much we can do about. At the end of the day its about what do you want. If its quality, and i like the look and the history. I'll buy it. If it be that Trriumph were to be Indian owned, well that would just be another page in the History of Triumph Motorcycles.
However, i must agree with you. The chances of Mr. Bloor selling his company i think are very slim.

I don't believe the company will sell, but yes I do believe the bikes would sell. I would have said nobody would by a bike made in Thailand. I was wrong.

I work for a major software design/coding house that has been around for years. Paranoid as I am, i will not name it in case the net nazis are watching but it starts with a 'c' and ends with an'x'. Most of the development/coding has been shipped to India and I am sure my job will be there shortly. Oh well, I can flip burgers with the best of them! What we have noticed when integrating the builds is the extremely poor quality of the results we are getting. Most of the middle managers here (that 'grew' into those positions from being very good software designers/coders) are tearing their hair out but upper management always glosses it over to high management. So what do we get? Pure, un-adulterated crap. If the software from India is any indication, I would be VERY reticent about buying a motorcycle from there.

India and China will be the same as Japan 50 years ago. Very low quality stuff after the war and during the occupation period in the 50s. The more money they made the better the quality and the more money they made. Then they bought one of our island states They all will eventually buy the US with the profits from the US. We have no effective import tariffs. To stay on topic, if the current owner of Triumph could make a tidy profit on a sale he would sell in a New York second. For you not in the US thats really, really fast
