I've often considered taking off the ugly reflectors on the front forks. It appears like they're just suck on with adhesive tape?

In the past I've removed adhesive attached items using the monofilament saw technique...some heavy mono fishing line drawn back and forth under, in my case a tank emblem, and it lifted right off, then a dab of good old WD-40 and the gunk was gone too. Betcha the reflectors will do the same.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

nice dealer to give you the option of applying them or not. I just removed mine last week, actually a fall removed one(maybe saved the chrome on the rear fender brace). If the bike is a little old you may need some time to clean up the area around the reflectors but the look is much improved. well worth the trouble. jeff

they are on with double sided tape. Took mine off the day it came home. Goo-Gone works!

pulled mine off day I brought it home too. No sawing with monophiliment or anything just pulled em off with my fingers scraped left over goo off with my finger nail and washed good with soapy water.

They come out of the box at the dealer's in a plastic bag with a strip of double-sided tape on the back. Aussie law doesn't require em so they just throw em away here. I got a "spare" set with my backrest (since you'd have to remove the fitted set to put the backrest on I guess) so I just stuck em to the back of my trailer.

Well, I pulled them off tonight with no fuss. Although I discovered my "adhesive remover" was also paint remover. I put some light scratches on one fork while scrapping off the tape with a finger nail. Ooops. I think it should buff out. At least now I know what to use if I ever want to strip the paint off the front forks.

what was that? I am thinking about either polishing mine or powder coat black. Shouldn't have been able to scratch that paint with fingernail. after you wash and wax them once you might find they aren't scratched. I hope so anyway. didn't scratch mine when I did it or Wendys either.

Oh it's scratched all right. I was using (brace yourself) Air Intake Cleaner. The glue/tape stuff wasn't coming off quickly enough for my liking, so I looked around, saw the Air Intake Cleaner and figured that would take it right off. It did, and really softened the paint up enough so I could scratch it with my fingernail.

Oh I understand now you softened the paint then scratched it. I thought you meant you scratched it then used that stuff. Sorry to hear that.

I've had great luck using WD40 to remove just about any adhesive from metal.
