After the Corbin, best comfort modification for me to date.
I did not like the feet forward riding position at all. I can now move my hoofs around and calves are almost perpendicular to the ground. If I wanted to for some bizarre reason, I can lift my bottom-side off the seat.
Like many of my accessories, I refused to pay full retail and went used. Found a set from a member who didn't care for them for $200 shipped. If you're not in a rush, wait for a used set to show up, as the retail asking price is way too high IMHO.

My experience echo's Tom. I like being able to put my feet at the rearmost edge. I'd ditch those forward controls if there was a cost effective way. My used bike came with the floor boards, so the orginal owner took the hit on cost.

I bought mine during the infamous half price sale early this year so I got a good deal. I wasn't sure if I liked them early on. Getting the sidestand up can be a challange until you get a knack for it. If you have mud on your shoes you WILL get it on your trousers. On the other hand, it gives you a place to move your feet around on longer trips, a real plus. And you can stand up on them to soften bumps or air off your butt while riding. Like my big old style driving lights, I'm not sure I'm crazy about the look, but I really like the function.

Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I'll add my two cents. I got floorboards about 6 months after I got her. Mostly because I kept touching the rear brake with my the toe of my boot. Annoyed the heck out of me. Got the boards and realized how much I could move my feet around which really helped on long trips.
Rode Kenny's bike at the NY rally last year with the standard pegs and knew I would never go back....

I agree, best mod I have put on the bike after the corbin, very comfortable when riding long distances. The mrs also likes the ISO wings I put on for her as well.

When I got the 03 back on the road, it seemed wierd returning to pegs. I'm gonna get some boards as soon as I can afford them.

That's the reason I'll be adding a set when I get my coins saved up. I find myself riding periodically with my heels on the pegs to avoid the controls and that's annoying.

I have them and love them too.
Another option is the Kuryakin switchblades for the front. The guys that have them also love them too. Sorta best of both worlds.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

I put floor boards on my bike a little more than 2 months ago. I am still trying to get use to them. At times they are great , but I don't feel I can stretch the legs out as much as when I had the pegs. I definitely won't be able to get a Corbin seat with the floor boards. May knees feel a little high now with the stock set and floor boards. If the Corbin seat pushes you forward 2 inches like I have been told, then the bike will be completely uncomfortable, and it will feel like I am riding with my knees in my chest. Just so you know I am 6 feet tall with a 34 inch inseam.

well I am 6'2" and like the peg set up.is that where the floor boards mount?I don't want my knees to be above my tank,i want floor boards but i want to stay stretched out.possible?

Your knees shouldn't be above the tank, but they will be "just" below the top of the tank. Maybe an inch or so. The mounting brackets for the floorboards use the same points as the mounting brackets for the pegs. The relative position of the gear shift and rear brake rubber is the same. I did have to adjust my gear shift lever slightlty to allow more room for my steel toed boot to fit underneath. I hope this answers your question.

Love the boards, never going back.... When first on forgot I had to move my foot to find the brake......not pretty, bit o' the pucker factor.. harder for me to get to the stand....

Yep. Bought floorboards at the dealer when I picked up my Speedmaster. Yes, they cost too much, but one of the main reasons for buying a new bike was comfort, so I'm not letting a relative few dollars spoil it. Put them on when I got home, and certainly wouldn't take them off to use the pegs again. At 6'3" and 35 inseam, the boards allow enough room to avoid my legs being locked into one position. It's also helpful to be able to lift my weight off the seat when I see one of those unavoidable rough spots in the road.

Got 'em and love 'em. Took a members advice and mounted mine "backwards" so they stick out further in the front than in back as I'm more comfortable with my legs stretched out.
6'1" with 34" inseam as well. I'll never go back to pegs. I highly recommend them.

Well I'm only 5' 10" and have a 28" inseam and am very comfortable with my floor boards. I would never go back to pegs.

My Dad had the floor boards on he BA. I/we didn't like them when stopped or trying to put the kick stand down. I/we also had troubles with the heel toe shifter and had to switch it back for him. I went with the switch blades on my BA very nice and have been on a couple of 180-300 mile trips. I am only 5' 8" tall and have a short inseam as well. I can hook my heels over the top of the blades like a foot rest, my legs are too short for a highway bar so I get the best of both worlds with them.. I also have the floor boards - like them a lot for longer runs. I tilted them back so that my ankles didn't feel so extended.

Hey fella's. I don't care for the forward controls and pegs on my 02 America either. Could you give me the basic info on where I get floorboards. Do they then come with foot controls that work with the boards? How much money are we talking? Thanks!

Richard, the floor board kit is available from your dealer. It cost me $380 Cdn, expensive, but well worth it for me. The brackets that come with the kit bolt to the same mount that the pegs are on. It's a quick R&R. The brake and shifter are reused, and fit onto the new brackets. As has already been mentioned, you will need to adjust the shifter to get your footwear under the lever comfortably. This is easily done though by adjusting the turnbuckle style rod, and I had to turn the rear leaver clockwise two notches.
I'm not sure how the after market products work.

Yeah, reduced clearance in corners; now that would bother me too! Any comments before I spend the $$$ on touring comfort. Also wondering about the pillion boards, what do people think of them

I have both fitted Triumph Flooeboards up front for me, very comfy on a long ride. and the ISO ones on the rear for the Mrs, she says they are great compared to the std pegs.

I think the reduced cornering clearence is more perceived than actual. I've found that I take familiar corners at the same speeds I did before I had the floorboards. They don't drag any earlier than the pegs did but I notice it more.

The fact is: once a person has floorboards he'll never like foot pegs again...another thing if the bike goes down they act like a guard..yea, they cost money but they're worth it...

Just did that myself. I hit a tar snake and the front wheel slid out at 25-30 mph. The right floor board took the brunt of the damage. The only thing I had to replace was the bulb in my right spot/driving light. Everything else is still usable.
