Your knees shouldn't be above the tank, but they will be "just" below the top of the tank. Maybe an inch or so. The mounting brackets for the floorboards use the same points as the mounting brackets for the pegs. The relative position of the gear shift and rear brake rubber is the same. I did have to adjust my gear shift lever slightlty to allow more room for my steel toed boot to fit underneath. I hope this answers your question.
