I'm just wondering if anybody has toned down the sound of their Long Cannons? I's like to know what to do if I ever get stopped for having loud pipes. Maybe some info on dB levels of the pipes.

It seems that my TBA's been trippin' a lot of car alarm sensors, even though I don't think its that loud. Must be the frequency of the tones.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, and ride safe.

I've also been tripping car alarms lately when I pull alongside to park. My pipes have about 30% of the packing removed, covered with the wirescreen. It would be just as simple to re-wrap with more insulation, there seemed to be plenty of room for additional material if the owner wished. My HD neighbor said the other evening, "your new pipes sound great". Told him they were the same pipes from last year just modified! I still think mine aren't as loud as many HD's I hear and MD doesn't seem to be bothered with motorcycle sound levels yet. I've heard small PA towns have been getting tough. All I have to do is keep it up into a higher gear and go easy on the throttle, they'll pick on those other guys.

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine have only 25% of the fiberglass left, and I see cops all the time. They never even really look at me. Now if I hammered on it when they were around... I'd definitely get talked to.

I'd like to tone mine down a bit. I've been thinking of adding some fiberglass wrap and screen. What screen do you guys recommend?

I agree, there are plenty of louder HD's around my area. I HAVE NOT ran into the PA noise police. I've read they setup up stings but guess I don't ride in PA enough.

Someone else on the list called it "hardware screen". I had roll leftover from sealing out my buried downspouts, keeps the dogs from drinking stagment water. The screen squares are about 1/8" and the material is pretty stiff, almost bendable. Pretty sure it came from Lowes.

Did a quick Google, this is exactly what I used. Probably any fiberglass insulation would work, just make sure you get unfaced.

I went to my local Home Depot looking for this stuff, and they had no idea. Typical. I'll get around to it one day.

Go to Lowes and get their gutter guard. It's hardware cloth that is about 6"x36" galvanized. About $2.
