I went out to start my bike this morning, so I sat on the seat, turned the switch on and to my surprise; the bike lunges forward and wants to start without me on it. Has this happened to anybody before? I did stop by the carwash the day before to wash it off and obviously something got wet that made all the safety switches short out, including the start button. The trans was in 1st gear so that’s one switch that shorted, and the side stand was down so that's another switch shorted, and I did not press the start button so that's another switch shorted. It has me stumped. I don’t see how all three shorted out. I took the starter button apart, and I did notice some corrosion on the plastic insulator part, so I cleaned it off and sprayed with WD-40; I hope it don't happen again.
Anybody got any suggestions as to what else I can do to remedy this?

Always be in riding position when you turn the key? G
I never wanted to lead, and I never wanted to follow.
I just wanted to ride.

dielectric grease anyone?

With transmission & sidestand both in the nono zone & it cranked anyway, there may have been something going on with the diode pack under the tank that's supposed to watch all that. So, if you start sealing connections, might wanna hit that.
Said Molly to James, that's a fine motorbike.

The diode pack AND the start relay I'd say, since it tried to start without you pressing the button. The manual states that you shouldn't use high pressure hoses to clean these bikes so I'd avoid that in future too. Just a bucket, sponge, and a garden hose from the top down unless you KNOW where you're spraying it.

Some safety switch is stuck too, it shouldn't be able to start in gear.
