Obviously you have to choose the place and time. Removing the outside mirror of some idiot who purposely cut you off as you pass his stopped car at a light is different than playing chicken with a psychotic in a pickup truck. Yelling at a 16 year old girl who turned left just in front of you, and making a lasting impression on her, is different than doing the same thing to two rednecks tossing beer cans out the window. During my 35 plus years of riding motorcycles I’ve been in all those situations. Unless I want to start carrying a Beretta everywhere I go there are some situations where demonstrating the acceleration capabilities of the bike is the best choice. On the other hand; shock, humiliation and shame are great teaching tools when properly applied. Since I don’t usually have a rear gunner my plan for the Camaro driver was to pull up next to her at a stop and very loudly say something like “WTF do you think you were doing? You could have killed us back there!” But I liked grandmas idea better.

As for when I'm in the car and someone decides words and gestures are not enough ....

Oh yeah, driving a nasty looking old 3/4 ton Chevy will get you all kinds of room on the road. Sometimes I miss that old beast.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
