Identical diameter wheels will track in the same arc of rotation , when you mix them , the smaller diameter wheel will follow a tighter arc than the larger wheel . In a curve they tend to follow different arcs and "fight" against each other , resulting in a less than harmonious turn . Notice sport bike wheels as opposed to a bar hopper .
