It seems as time marches on engine capacities get larger, and the bar is raised. to consider 1500cc as a "Mid Sized"
anything 20 - 30 years ago would be ludicrous.
And yet with all the modern day technology and increased engine capacities (double in most cases) we still are doing the same things at round bout the same speed, albiet a little smoother and more reliabily overall.
Today I would consider a mid sized engine capacity to be around 750cc and the R3 engine capacity as gross - a bit like the Munch Monster back in the 70's and definitly not the yardstick for the average larger capacity production motorcycle.
