So, I've always thought my tranny shifted roughly, but I had no idea HOW rough until I road Roadtrip's Speedmaster last week. It barely made a sound as I clicked through the gears. On my bike there's usually a loud THUNK in all gears but especially when going from neutral to 1st. It's been doing this for the entire five years I've own it. I think I mentioned it to the dealer a few years ago and he blew it off as being 'just the way it is.'
Secondly, on a potentially related note, I've been noticing lately that when I shift it doesn't make it all the way into the next gear. Sometimes it's as if there's a neutral between every gear. It doesn't happen all the time but it's been happening with greater frequency this summer.
Any ideas on either quandry? Could they be related?
