Just got the call from the dealer, under warranty but it is a "looong" fix he said. Apparently, 2005 and earlier models have some sort of pin that feeds into the starter motor which engages the gear, my pin broke and when it broke it cracked the casing which houses the starter. Dealer said he had seen this only once before. Guess I can pride myself in having a non-unique bike. 2-3 weeks with NO ride.
Oh well, at least I am not coughing any cash up. Thanks for all the input though guys, wish it was something I clda fixed myself....
