Just installed a pair of Kuryakin foot pegs on the front and rear. Didn't notice it until I was installing the last rear peg. A little ball, looks like a BB fell out of somewhere. I noticed that there are 2 round holes, vertical from each other on the footpeg frame.
I installed the peg without the ball. Does anyone know what that ball is used for?
Also, does Kuryakins sell matching shifter pegs for all their foot pegs?
Thanks,
Rick

Which Kuryakyn pegs did you get? I have a pair of switchblades and the the little ball is used to provide a pivot point for the collapsible heel rest. It's held under tension by a spring which is held in place by an allen head set screw.

I bought the retro peg w/o male mount pegs. I believe the part # is 4401. I didn't have to take a set screw out anywhere. My left rear peg kept dropping while I was riding so I took it apart and stretched out the spring and reassembled it and it stays up now. Still confused about the set screw though.
Are you saying, when you took off your peg, the set screw was there holding in the ball?

Sal,
Feelin kinda stupid here but the allenhead set screw HAS to be the screw used to mount the peg to the adapter right?
Is the spring for the rear peg assembled on the side of the adapter? Will not using the ball hurt anything?
If your wondering why I am having problems with this easy install. My wife bought me the pegs and adapters for my birthday and decided to surprise me and install them. So I was just left with.......... honnney, Happy Birthday I bought you the pegs you wanted and put them on for you, but.......this BB came from somewhere.
Not that I don't appreciate the gift but now not sure what to do. hahahaha
Anyway, thanks Sal.

If I'm not mistaken, the ball is spring loaded and acts as a detent to hold the peg in position, much like the little ball in a ratchet that holds the socket in place so it doesn't fall off.... I could be wrong though....

Yup! That's what it's for. It's used on the rear pegs only to hold them in the upright position. If you take the other one carefully apart you'll see how it goes. It's helped to stay in place by a little grease, but if that loses its tension and you don't know it's there...buh-bye.
