Hey whats up? Ive been lurking around here latly and gathering all the info I can get about a speedmaster and so far I really like what I see.
I went to a dealer and checked one out and it definatly is a cool bike, The final decison will be once I ride one, When I asked if I could demo one the dealer wouldent let me so im going to a different dealer to see if they will.

My current ride is a 2003 yamaha fz1, its a cool ride but I just want something a little more mellow for slow cruising and something that can handle pretty well in the corners when it calls for it.

Lets hope the other dealer will let me take it on a test ride and lets hope the wife lets be buy the thing...lol

Welcome to the club Pensfan

Good luck getting your wife to agree. Offer her a new kitchen. That often works.

My nearest dealer won't let you ride one and hates it when you sit on one. But, 2 hours South, in Birmingham the dealer throws you the keys at 10:00 a.m. and says, "We close at 5:30". I like him. My home is open, if you want go to Birmingham for a Speedy test.

Which dealer wouldn't let you test ride? I got my America at European Motorcycles in Wexford but I didn't ask for a ride before buying.

Well if you can't test ride you can't make an informed decision. I wouldn't buy anything I couldn't ride first, isn't that why you live with a woman before you marry her?

If you have only been to Collins you will be pleasantly suprised by European. Much better dealership, much better selection. Talk to Lee, he seems like a good guy. BMW is there main line but they have a good selection of Triumph and Ducati.

Welcome Pensfan, I must admit I bought mine without a test ride, but I did sit on it and the mrs jumped on the rear, the riding position was enough for me to say it was sold.

Hope you get your test ride, the dealers in the UK push you all the time to test ride, problem is you would have a garage full of Triumphs and be in debt up to your arm pits ..

Hey NewGuy, welcome to the site. You can always try a used Speedy, a private owner will give you a test ride. Look around, the '03's came in Steeler's colors!

My current ride fz1 is in the black and yellow paint scheme, so therefore all my gear is also black and yellow. I would be happy with a all black speedy even though the mulberry red ones are pretty.

I never test rode mine when i brought it, though i was offered and incouraged to take a test ride a number of times. In fact, i did not even see mine before i brought it. They only had a blue one in the showroom when i went looking, but the dealer said he could locate a red one for me and bring it in. I laid down a deposit and told him to call me when it arrived. Rode away on a beautiful Cardinal Red one three days later. Without a test ride. Still in love, four years later.

Make sure when you buy the bike "FROM ANOTHER DEALER" that your first trip is back to Collins to tell the a**hole salesman the test rides sell bikes. What a dumba*** salesman.

When I was in deciding where to get my America, I went to Collins and while I didn't have an horrible experience, I didn't have a good one either. It was more of no experience really. The dealership is really in the middle of no where and the showroom is pretty small. The one time I went out, there were only three or four bikes on the floor. This pretty much filled the showroom. I don't know what else was in the building (pretty goood sized building for the small showroom) as I was never approached by any of the people working there to see if I needed anything. They didn't have an America, so my wife and I left.

It really is just a small town dealership I think. Not sure if I would have chosen to open up where they did. European Motorcycles is much larger and in a much more advantageous place. The OP should like it there. European is also the local RAT sponsor.

When I went there, there was only about 4 bikes in the showroom as well, 1 sport bike, a tiger 2 used bikes and a left over speedy, he pulled it out and let me sit on it and check it out and we talked for a little bit and they just recieved a 07 speedy that was still in the crate, I asked if he took trades on bikes and he said yeah what do you got so I told him 03 yamaha fz1 and he said he normally doesent take japanese bikes and he asked what I wanted to get out of it I told him atleast 4,000 and he goes I would probally sell it for that much so no im not interseted and thats when I ask could I get a test ride on the left over, he goes theres no reason to take it out if your not going to buy it.
He even told me to try the guys in wexford because they will take anything. So if the guys in wexford give me 4000 I will buy from them instead. Now do I choose mulberry or black?

Buy your bike and ride it to his dealership to show him the business he lost! Better yet...just keep riding by and enjoy your new bike when you get it!

Seeing as you are familiar with the power of sport bikes. I would suggest the Mulberry. They are known to be a little faster then the black ones and almost as fast as the cardinal red ones.

Oh my, does this color thing ever rest

That's stupid. It should be argued that, "there's no reason to buy it if you don't take it out!!!". I so argue.
I've owned over 20 motorcycles, not once have I bought one without a test ride. My dealer said no to a test, until I laid $8,000 on the counter. After my test ride, I grabbed the $8k and ordered the one I wanted. I'm still happy after 50,000 miles, by the way.

Call Triumph of Windber (johnstown pa)and see if they have a demo bike available. It would only be about a 1 1/2 ride, or maybe two depending on what part of Pitts. your in. BTW a local guy has a Steeler color speedy, complete with a side car with a big Steeler logo on it.

They never will. Cause they're skeered. Nothing beats a Black.
