Does anybody have any thoughts on how and where to mount a mini garage door opener remote?
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger......and then it hit me.

Three ways I've done it. The best was the built in system that just required me to cycle my highbeams. Also, I kept a mini opener on a keychain with the ignition key. With the other one I put one into a black rubber glove finger, sealed it shut, and attached it to the wiring on the left side of the handlebar.

clicky This is what I'm saving up for. My Father-in-Law has one on his Screamin Eagle. When I relocated my lightbar switch I used an On-Off-Momentary switch. I was just going to wire it to the momentary side of the switch.

I put mine under the console and put a chrome push button from the hardware store into the left rubber plugged hole... works great and only set me back a couple bucks

Mine, I mounted on top of the air box between the tank and where the snorkel use to be. Then ran a wire off it to a black push button switch that I got from Radio Shack. Mounted it on the left cover right near the seat on the left side.

That's what I originally wanted to do but my opener has a micro button soldered to a very small circuit board. There's no way to wire in an external switch that I can see.

Here is where I got the built in opener remote. Does NOT work with rolling code openers. Flash your high beams on/off and the door opens. http://www.motofx.com/

I just got one of the small mini opener controllers off of ebay. It hangs on the key chain. When I need to open/close the garage it is just a simple reach down and press the button. Piece of cake. Thought about wiring a momentary switch into the console but then decided it would just be a waste of time as the setup I already use is simple as trying to keep up with Ryan on US60.

I have a little mini remote that works just fine. Got it at Lowes. On a key ring then on a D ring on my belt. When I get off the bike I put the remote on the seat in the garage. Stick it on my belt when I leave.
Works just fine and I have a spare not permanently attached to the bike if I need it. Used to be on my key ring at the ignition but that was a bit of reach to get to it.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

A LOT off topic, but here in the UK you can fit a garage door remote to your car/bike and it will mess up a signal from a Police Radar gun, it takes a few seconds for their equipment to re-set so with a bit of heavy braking you should get below the limit by then. The Cops WILL pull you over and search for it. If you have one, they will send a cop to your house to make sure you have the door ! If you ain't - you are in BIG BIG trouble All this is a land fit for heros
If you do it today you MIGHT regret it. If you CAN'T do it tomorrow you WILL regret it.

I mounted mine to the inside of the right plastic side cover with adhesive velcro patches. I soldered wires to it and mounted a switch in one of the holes in the right faux chrome "air cleaner" cover. It all depends on the brand of door opener you have and what remotes are available.
It wasn't my idea - it was already on the web - I think Al (ssjones) posted the link originally.

Just saw this post, sorry for the late reply. I mounted mine to the key switch cover, just used a spare opener I had. Very easy to wire. I have wire pix if you are interested. That switch pictured is a $4 micro momentary switch from Radio shack which worked fine. I later replaced it with a $20 marine switch from Grainger. The old thread and pictures are here: Opener Thread
