For the past couple of weeks, I've been reading as much about Speedmasters as possible while I shopped for a good used one. Found an '05 with 2400 miles and show room gorgeous. Black with red trim. All stock but I'll remedy that thanks to the help from this forum. Looking forward to this experience at the ripe age of 59. I've been riding my '05 Honda VTX 1300 R for a couple of years and I'll keep it but really excited about the Speedmaster for my daily commute to Addison, TX.
Thanks to this forum for all of the information you've provided during my decision making process.
Don

Welcome Don.

You're gonna love this bike a little more every single day.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Welcome Don! Read away in the tech vault for great destructions to most every mod you heart desires, even ones you don't know you want yet...
And put Brent on the speed dialer.

Oh yea, I've done that already. Looks like he keeps coming up with new products faster than I'll be able to buy them but I'll give it a whirl.

You're going to love your new Triumph. I just graduated in May from a 99 Honda Shadow Ace 750 and it's a whole new world. This is the place to all the info your need: great folks, good advice.

Always good to have another DFW Texan in the group. Welcome! Myself and a couple of other local yokels will be happy to help you with the destruction!

Welcome, there's some good info in the tech section and these folks seem to be pretty friendly. An added feature is no matter what time of day or night you logon, Dwight will be there to respond.

I'll have a chance to visit with Dwight then because I've been know to roam the web at wee hours of the night, myself. My wife snores.

I have a feeling that it won't be more than 6 months that you will look at the Honda, say, "I can't believe I actually rode that thing", and put it up for sale. These Triumphs are like that, the bikes you already had tend to be neglected.

Hey Don. My name is Don also, and I'm also 59, and I also moved up from a Honda. A Shadow 600. Went the America route, 07 with the 865 from the Speedmaster. I couldn't have made a better choise and I know you will be saying the same thing very soon. Enjoy & ride safe.

I would like to go, but I work on weekends. Every so often, we try to meet somewhere just for the heck of it. I'm usually the guy that can't go! You should try to make the Arkansas run we are doing in September though, it's gonna be awesome. Check out the "Ouachita" thread in the Rides and Rallies section.
