I bet this is in the archives somewhere but I thought I would share after multiple mosquito bites and lots a cussing. My neutral light stopped working on my first shake down ride after putting my ride back together. I ran through all the connections...took the dash off, pulled the bulb, got out the test light, ran through the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual..etc.etc. Out of desperation, I crawled under the bike while it was on the lift, tada!!!! There is a blade connector hidden in a crevice on the bottom side of the crankcase just ahead of the oil filter.....my connector wern't connected. A quick "adjustment " with a pair of pliers and bingo...light is back to working. Hope it saves somebody some frustration.

Well it's always nice to know where the elusive connectors might be hiding but at my age I won't remember where you said it was in 6 months. thank you Ezcue for thinking of us.
