But, the way that is written up sounds strange.
They seem to be saying that a single pickup coil that's marginal because of the gap can produce symptoms of a bad HT coil.
I'd expect the symptoms to be something like what Phil's getting, which is something entirely different.
This is based on my assumption that the pickup coil is supposed to emit identical pulses 90 degrees apart, and the CDI differentiates #1 from #2 based on interval timing.
Maybe that's a faulty assumption.
Since I've never paid much attention to the dogs on the rotor or the pickup itself, I suppose that could well be.
