I'm a member of a local triumph group called RATBAGS, I ride with them sometimes when I'm not working. They were invited to host a bike show as part of a small agricultural show in a country town about an hour's ride from me... ride thru the main street, carry the local "dairy princess" etc on the back of the bikes, and so on. About 50 Triumphs of varying type and age (meridan & hinkley) were there.

I'd pretty much decided to give it a miss as I was dead tired from lots of overtime at work but Stewart (SRS) talked me into going. I've never considered entering my bike into a show, and hadn't even washed it for 2-3 weeks. Long story short, I walked away with a trophy for best presented bike and a voucher for a free service (oh and a phone number for one of the local girls )! Stewart scored too, he got runner-up for the Peoples' Choice award, and he got to carry the girl who gave me the phone number through the parade. (Don't tell his missus tho! ) All in all, the day ended up being a lot better than I expected.

That's the way it's done!

Matt,
Where was the local festival? Was it around Maleny? Did you go to the Laverda Club's Bike show at the park under the Story Bridge yesterday - Great turnout, some great bikes - thought I'd see a few more Triumphs, not many though.

Gday mate... no it was the Ag show out at Laidley. Oh and the Laidley pub is a great place to stop for a beer on a hot dusty day too!

I missed the show yesterday - didn't even know it was on to be honest and couldn't have turned up anyway as I was working.

Actually the RATBAGS have been invited to do a show under story bridge at some point in the near future - who knows, I might even get around to washing & polishing my bike for that one!

Actually, since you're local you might want to have a look at the RATBAGS website and come along for a ride sometime.

Matt,
Checked out the Ratbags website - Great, Who do I contact to join up, It would have been freezing out there at Laidley, had a few beers in the Pub out there in the past, good Pub - My favorite pub around Brisbane is the old wooden pub at Goodna "the Royal Mail" cranks up on the weekends with live Blues Bands and young scantily clad barmaids. Heaven away from the Tribe for a few hours

Well done that sandman!

Took my baby for new tyre and annual inspection (They do that in NSW - I miss Queensland!) The mechanic says he wont let me have her back unless I promise to clean it.

What do I need to do to my motorcicle to make it ride in the southern hemisphere? I wash mine.

Ride Safe, Dennis Triumph, it's how I live and what I ride.

As far as I know you just turn up at the next ride and say "I wanna be a ratbag"... there's nothing formal required.

Oddly I work round the corner from the Royal Mail at Goodna - pass it most days. Didn't know about the scantilly clad barmaids or the bands - might have to make a point of dropping in sometime!

If you mean OZ or Kiwiland, you have to teach it to run on the other side of the road. That can be a bit tricky.

Technically You gotta change the headlight too - yours points the wrong way (angled to the left instead of the right or something). I doubt anyone'd notice tho, given how useless the standard lights are.
