Don't know if anyone here is looking forward to the new Steet Triple but I have been and seeing as how my America was just totalled in a crash I am looking for a new bike. Well, the US unveiling of the Street Triple will be July 20-22 at Laguna Seca but the bike showed up today for one day only at Calmoto BMW/Triumph in Mt. View CA which happens to by my shop and I have a good buddy who is a sales person there. I guess the bike will be touring around the CA bay area this week making it's way to Leguna Seca and this was it's first stop. They didn't even send a key, just the bike, in black, a platform to put it up on, and some rope to rope it off so no one touches the thing.

So my buddy calls me up and tells me this, so I ditch out of work at lunch time and get down there to check it out. Man, what a sweet bike. It looks way better in person than in pictures and it looks pretty good in the pictures. It's not as small as you would think. It is actually about the same size as the speed triple but it's bars are higher and wider so it almost looks bigger. I was worried that it would be tiny like the Speed Four and I at 275lbs would look like a bear on a tricycle sitting on it like I do sitting on most smaller bikes. But not so, the bike looks just right.

Then, I got a huge thrill as my buddy says "You want to sit on it?" "****** yes," I reply and he closes the blinds to the showroom and tells me to go for it before anyone comes by and sees. So I climb up on the platform and throw a leg over. Perfect fit. At 5'9" my feet are flat on the ground. Bars are just right, with a sit straight up riding position, very little forward lean, even less than on the Tiger. The pegs are right under me. This is a great fitting bike, a true standard in terms of riding position. And the seat was very comfy for the minute or so I got to spend on it. And super light. I mean, at 380 lbs what do you expect. It lifted off the side stand like it wasn't even there. I can't wait to ride it. 110hp with such a light weight? And for $7999, are you kidding me?! What a thrill it was to have to honor to sit on the thing. I am seriously considering putting a deposit down and getting one when they come in in October.
