Sigh, I was very happy with the customer service I received from British Custom's, they're friendly, courteous, and quick, however, I have serious issues with they're airbox elimination kit. Right from the beginning, it was not a great fit. I managed to finnagle it in there and make everything work, but with much stress on the fairings. Until eventually the left side plastic fairing cracked in several places, sigh. No biggy, I like playing with metal- so I fabricated a replacement bracket to keep what was left of the plastic and the decorative grater's mounts. On to the right side- it fell off! Not sure where it fell off, but it definatly fell off. It was just a bad placement of the brackets to mount the plastic on the BC kit. To the BC staff- I will continue to shop from you guys, but please take a serious look at this kit, some simple steps could make it much more "fairing friendly." Anyone else had problems with this? Also, I am considering just make an alternative cover for the right side andf possibly eliminating the cheese graters on both sides- any suggestions? or pictures?

Nick- when I fashioned a do-it-yourself Freak I eliminated the cheez graters also. Like the open pod look. Shaped a piece of sheet metal for over the battery. Got a few pics in my gallery.

I made small brackets to hold my cheeze grater on the left side. I bet you could do something similar on the right.

thanks guys, appreciate the advice- sadly, I'll just go drive the streets and hope to find my lost fairing wandering around. Poor little guy, he's probably out there scared and alone, doesnt know where his daddy is, has no food- I'm gonna cry. Ok, I'm retarted, I think the final stage is acceptance.

id like to know how the fairing on this one was made, looks simple enough but it's so clean that I don't see where it mounts.

I'm glad I found this post, I have been pondering adding the 'FREAK' to my '03 Speedmaster, BUT, I was wondering if it is really worth doing so for the cost. I'm just looking at the pro's and cons.

He is talking about British Customs version not the New Speedmaster kit and they are different. I have the New Speedmaster version and like it. Never had an issue with it.
