Lot of great groups listed, a few duds and some that just plain stink!! I live in ALABAMA so the only group to to top the best list is LYNYRD SKYNYRD

I forgot to mention Creedence - still play em long & loud.
Has anyone heard of a band called "Roxy" - nothing to do with Brian Ferry or Roxy Music - I bought the album back in the early 70's from memory it was a glossy black cover with a small stained glass window in the centre - brilliant album but can't seem to find it anywhere even the record co's don't know.
Can anyone remember it ?

AC-DC but I have to say it, with Bon Scott. Black Sabbath close second, and recently... The Giants.

Did I miss it? No one mentioned the quintessential biker band, The Doobie Brothers. Paid their dues in California biker bars before they made it. Most of them are riders as well; I even remember reading about Tom Johnston's Vincent Black Shadow (back in the day)...

You know, the act I work for and the Doobies shared a series of festival shows at the turn of the century and both Tom and Pat were in the band and Michael was not,  it was great rockin' trip down memory lane. Later the 2nd drummer had a rotten crash on his Fatboy and was laid up quite a while.  I haven't kept in touch since Keith passed so I don't know who's playing in the lineup today.

I'm very impressed here in the Land Down Under to hear so many of you rate AC/DC so highly; they are a first class rock n roll band with a geat history. But I always come back to that famous announcement " Ladies and gentlemen , the greatest rock n roll band in the world, THE ROLLING STONES."
