I added a piece of 3/4 plywood along the side to give it a little extra lift. The only thing I didn't either already have, or get for free, was the 3/4 inch flange I used to attach the pipe to the boards. I went for two years until I got a Sears lift on sale. The wooden lift works great for oil changes and chain adjustments but not to remove the rear wheel.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
