Just hit 10K on the speedo at one year ownership. Needs a front tire, front and back brakes (which are scheduled to be put on). Is there any other maintenance that needs to be done (oil has been changed every 3K)?

Maybe have your carbs balance if you haven't done it already.

Since the bike will be in the shop anyway, I'd go ahead and get the 12,000 mile service done at the same time to keep from having to take it back in 2,000 miles later. That means adjusting the valves, carb balance afterwards, and I'd have them lube the steering head bearings. Also have them flush the brake fluid with new while they're at it, plus throw in some new spark plugs.

Of course if can do the work yourself, you'd save a pile of money.

Hey Sal, how many 12,000 service intervals do you have on your speedy? Four already?

Was thinking about you this weekend while working on my America. Had a lot of fun changing out cables and such to accomodate risers. Too bad you live on the other side of town...could have used your advice a few times. Anyway, after a bunch of sweat and swear words, everything turned out OK.

Yup, 4 of them. Just rolled over 54,000 yesterday. Should have shot me an e-mail, I would've stopped by to give you a hand. Only thing I've been doing this weekend is getting some junk out of the yard and garage for the big semi-annual brushy trash pickup by the city.
