I need to lube my chain, where can I get some lube? I know I can order it online, but I'd rather just run to the store and grab some. Does anyone know if you can get it at autozone, pepboys, walmart, etc? Not looking for any brand in particular but am open to suggestions. Thx.

We have a product over here called lanotec and its great on chains. Its made from the oil/grease in sheeps wool has a heap of other uses. You can buy it just about anywhere.

Is it the Heavy duty Type 'A' grease you use or the heavy duty liquid lanolin ?

Got some pj1 chain lube at the harley shop down the road today. The parts guy didn't think they had it, but I found it on a shelf. He said "it's a belt world nowadays". Yep. Anyway, all they had was the black, not the blue. Now I know the blue is supposed to be for o-ring chains, but it says on the black can "o-ring safe". Guess it's a new formula or something, or am I going to ruin my chain using this stuff?

It's what i'm using until the can's empty, then i'll get a can 'o blue. I just spray a bit on the side plates at the rear sprocket after the chain's clean, let it sit for a while and wipe off the residue. Go easy on it or it'll sling off everywhere.

Ok, check this out.
If you have a LOWES hardware store nearby...run over and pick up a spray can of "DUPONT's Multi-Use Dry, Wax Lubricant" spray for less than $7.00. I also use PJ's Chain Cleaner spray which works great and can be found at most Motorcycle dealers I assume. I got mine at a local HD shop (which I'll never do again but that is another story)"

Ever since talking to a part time BMW tech instructor, who also owns his own shop, I've been using his recommendation of Lithium grease in a spray can. You can buy it at any hardware store for about $4-5. After using it for about a year and a half now, I've noticed the chain picks up less dirt and grime than normal chain lubes, even ones like Maxima chain wax. This chain has also lasted longer than the 2 previous chains on the bike. I'm at 20,000 miles with this one. The previous 2 lasted 17,000 miles each.

Just the heavy duty liquid lanoline I find is fine. This is undoubtably one of the best multi purpose products on the market and no I don`t sell it.

My suggestion from a hard offroad dirtbiker/semi hard street rider (who hates to clean chain lube grease all the time). Bel-Ray super clean chain lube. Online Marketplace

Great protection, and doesn't fling crap everywhere. Helps keep those hard to clean spokes clean and the rims shiny.

Just my two cents.

I've been using Lithium grease for years for other jobs and I just had to try it on my chain after reading this post. I'm truly impressed with the CLEAN results.

I have been using the BG motorcycle chain lube for about a year now,I used other lubes but did not like the white paint look on the chain I also not a big fan of lithium lubes do not seem to penetrait as well. as I started to use the bg lube black gunk came out from the chain and sprokets now just some residual stuf from the sproket cover. I am a beliver in the BG pruducts, the only way to get this lube is some automotive part stores or auto shops, but worth it.

H-D shop??? I love going in and asking if they have chain lube. That usually starts a mad scramble to find out exactly what chain lube might be and if they have it (works great with the girl sales folk). My buddies get a big charge out of it. You are lucky, I'd say 90% of the time they can't find it or don't have it (unless they have a big Buell clientle). They give me the old belt reply, and I tell them belts are for taking off your significant other at the end of the ride, not your bike...

I went to a local HD dealership looking for a chain brush just the other day . One of the parts guys had to go ask in back if they had any, came back out and tried directing me towards a spoke and wheel brush.

I went to the local cycle gear and got one.

A few of the guys over here use gearbox oil EP90, and swear by it, I have never used but I intend to when I fit new chain and sprockets,
