Be patient.

I received my plug from Troutman yesterday, and next time I have a day or two off work I'll be reattaching the socket and re-writing the how-to.

If you absolutely can't wait - pull the seats & tank off your bike and have a look on the right hand side under the tank. You'll find a black 12 pin socket there, with a black 12 pin plug stuck in it that only has two little wire loops on it (that's the blanking plug). Pull the blanking plug off and have a REAL close look at the socket. Get a light and have a CLOSER look, with a magnifying glass. You'll see some teeny tiny little numbers there marked 1-12. These are pins 1-12. (ok so I called them wires - once you cut the socket off they ARE just wires.) Ignore pins 10 & 11. Get another bit of wire and connect it between pins 3 & 5. Connect the coloured wires from the alarm to the new plug so they connect to the wires as listed in the table on my website. Bingo - your alarm should now work.

If that still doesn't make sense, perhaps you should seek out a friend who's more confident with electronics to help.
