Well, the mute-American sportfish syndrome (Dumb*** Disease) finally hit. I was backing the America out of the garage, when turning left, the centrifugal force of the turn sent me (unprepared) to the right. Thank God my right leg took most of the cushioning, but it's quite embarrassing to be "riding" your motorcycle sideways in the middle of your driveway. Thank goodness it was oh-dark-thirty, and no neighbors were out. Only scratched the back of my right mirror, very end of the front brake lever, and tweaked the bracket for the right fore-pumpkin, and end of the light bar. Nothing some vice grips and sand paper can't take care of, the mirror isn't all that bad...

In typical (new society) American fashion, I have to blame someone, so here's to FCTush, who sold me his Auburn bags, that are so huge compared to my Triumph "sixpack 'o piece, and that's all bags" that I could hear an echo when talked to myself, as I looked into them. Musta put too much in them (tools, clothing, parts, a used VW for emergencies, etc.)

Now, if I can just figure out where I lost my cell phone (somewhere between Gunnison and Canon City) I'll be okay.

It 's so much more fun as you go down to role - play , like a pirate , and in your best gruff falsetto growl out " she's a - listin ' hard ta starrburd ! bring 'er aboat hard ta port , drop tha port sheets ya blubberin ' swabbies !" I 'm sorry , William , I feel your pain . Sometimes my neighbors close their windows .

I executed a near perfect Arte Johnson on Laugh In "tipping his tricycle over" fall in the driveway a year ago last April. Sadly there were no witnesses. Life became much easier when I fully realized as Junior Barnes once stated "We're all a bunch of cabbage heads on this bus anyway". Junior also liked to party, but wisely gave it up in exchange for a loving wife and family.

Question Brother Wall,
Did your foot get trapped? I've dropped my bike to both sides, and my foot was trapped under the engine's side covers both times (well, all three times if you count the low side fall I took at speed a while back). Maybe your feet weren't on the pegs, but mine were, and they were trapped by the engine's side covers. Makes it hard to lift the bike when your foot is hung.
Just wondering - I think I need engine guards (crash bars)from Brent - I love those things.

At least it wasn't in a Harley store parking lot. Glad it was an easy fix for you.

Dennis -

Luckily, my footboards were there. My right foot slipped just ahead of the right footboard, and the void between that and the handlebar/brake handle/fore-pumpkin/mirror combination allowed me to slip out. That and the slo-mo teeter prevented excessive damage, by allowing me to do some quick (although not quick enough, obviously) thinking/reacting. I was heading out for a trip across Colorado on US 50 to visit my OIC from the MI resident office I was assigned to 20 years ago, and it would have "screwed the pooch" on the deal if it had been more extensive.

It was kind of flashback to a bicycle trip I made...Pulled to the right of a truck for an intersection, he took off, and the wind pulled me over. Since I had clipped pedals, I couldn't get out in time, and fell over (no damage to bike or rider) and ended upside down (on my back, bike straight up in the air) trying to get loose. Now that was a hoot!

When I bought my speedy two years ago, I was backing it into the basement where it is kept. It was about the third time I put it in. My foot slipped on gravel because it;s a slight grade, the bike came down partially ontop of me, but it stopped. The rear turn signal was holding it at an angle.
So with in 48 hrs of ownship I had a tremendously bent left turnsignal. I quickly changed to fender strut mounted kuryakyn silver bullets.
The land lady is to put in a patio behind the house (infront of the cellar entrance) I truely hope this improves getting the bikes in and out. I do believe most would kringe watching me try put my baby in for the night.
