Well GB, your subjective reasons are, of course valid. After all, it's A-OK to like what you like.
However:

Has been overcome for the most part. In fact shaft driven bikes with longitudinal crankshafts have no gyroscopic effect and are easier to steer.

Many (and more and more on the newer designs) are a snap. Especially with a single sided swing arm. One nut or bolt, slide it off the spline shaft.
