Actually, I don't know why but I've never really warmed to the idea of a belt-drive system.(maybe that stems from some childhood trauma, huh?!...sorry, there I go again  ), but I figure that between a chain and a belt drive, I'd rather go with the chain, because as Paul noted, a chain can be fixed on the side of the road.
