To have that much difference it seems to me you'd see a very noticable difference in some of the side plates, like they'd been stretched a lot. I'm inclined to question the alignment of the sprockets if there's not a visual defect in the chain. Years ago we'd loop a string over one tooth on the crankcase sprocket and use it to true both faces to the same visual plane; I suppose in the 21st century folks use lasers...I'd still look at the wheel sprocket and make sure it's true and check it for run out.

Thanks for the reply. As the chain turns...for lack of a better description, some of the links are "kinked". The link will be higher than the one on either side of it. I dial indicated the the rear sprocket at .003 variance and re checked the primary at .002 vertical and .001 side to side. I cant physically see any stretch in the side plates. I will try again in the morning...been a long day.

Gonna have to replace that chain man.. sucks i know.. but yours is gone from the sound of it. Look under Final Drives in the tech vault.. some useful info there abouts. Had a feeling your chain might not survive the trauma..

Ahhh. I was just being a baby..... LOL, thanks for the replies and tips. I am actually glad I put the indicator on the sprockets...good to know they are all running true. I will get a chain on it next week..before the 4th, I hope.

Exactly right, that would be stretched side plates and you need a new chain.
