Alright, dumbass me left key on and ran batt completely dead. I was told to jump it using a car w/ key turned on but not started. I did so, but it either dies as soon as i remove the cables or runs fine while idleing, only to die as soon as i give it any throttle. Oh yeah, its poppin and backfiring right before it dies also. Any help with this matter would be greatly appriciated! Do i just need to slow charge it for awhile?

YEAH IT RUNS FINE WHILE CABLES ARE HOOKED UP. YOU SAY, LEAVE IT HOOKED UP LONGER OR DO I NEED TO PUT IT ON A SLOW CHARGER OVERNIGHT?

Sounds right, slow charge overnight. I'd even remove it from the bike just to prevent damaging anything else in the electrical chain (which is unlikley but always possible).

It's your battery. You probaly have a dead cell. Try charging it and if it still has the same symptoms buy a new battery........ANGELIS

Take the battery to Auto Zone, Pep Boys, they will match it up. You don't need a Triumph one. Assuming you have those stores where you live or in your country. I am not sure where you are.
Auto Zone will test it for you.

A car's jumper cable output can over load a little bike battery, especially if the car is running.
NAPA sells a wet cell battery that ships with acid on the side, so it may be the case the battery is fairly fresh when you add the acid. I believe they cost around $60 if I recall. According to Consumer Reports, batteries with acid already in start to age as they sit on a store's shelf.
If you go for an AGM battery, it seems that according to some google results, they sometimes don't take to being fully discharged too well. A trickle charger is required for long term or seasonal AGM storage.

Got my battery at Auto Zone. $59.95. If you get one with the six acid bottles connected, be sure that you mark the left or right side of the bottles and the battery in case one of the bottles doesn't empty. I got lucky and was able to remember. (And before I get into miracles here and get in trouble I'll stop).

In the Tech Vault there's this cross reference guide for various brands of batteries that fit our bikes. Btw, the Yuasa YTX12-BS that comes with our bikes is an AGM(Absorbed Glass Matt) battery according to the Yuasa website. I didn't know that until I read it on another forum.

If you used regular car jumper cables you probably toasted the battery, too much juice. Need to make a set out of about 14 gage wire with gator clips if your jumping off a car battery.

I picked up a new battery today at Wallyworld. The ES12-BS as noted in the tech vault. This is an AGM battery and I view it as a BARGAIN. Good part about Wallyworld batteries is that you can bring them back in for free replacement for three years no questions asked. If you should happen to screw up and leave the key on and kill it ....just take it back and get a new one for free. They dont even blink they just give you a new one.

Slow charge it overnight. The reason it idles OK but dies when you speed up the engine is that the igniter is getting enough current to work, but there isn't enough to fire the coils when the ignition timing advances away from the output pulses from the alternator.
