After experimenting with several de-baffled versions of stock pipes, I installed Epcos purchased from a member here. The performance difference at WOT is remarkable. Really moves after 4500 or 5000 RPM. They are a little louder on accelleration than -3 baffle stockers, but a little quieter idling and cruising. The packing material was in pieces, so there is only about 2/3 of each baffle wrapped.

Got EPCO's as well and do like them a lot.
Were you saying that the packing material had already been altered, or were you saying that it comes in pieces?

Bought them from someone who had removed it. I'll order some new packing and I think they will be perfect.

Most bike shops carry packing. I pulled the end piece out last(baffle cap) just to have a look. It was a bit snug and so didn't want to get into anything time consuming, so put it back. I presume once that piece comes out the rest of the baffle comes out easily. I wasn't sure if the muffler mounting screws would interfere with me pulling the baffle out or not. I had sealed the mounting with RTV and didn't want to remove the muffler so I was doing this while the thing was still on the bike.

I am glad to hear you like your Epco's. I just got mine (straight cut) installed two weeks ago. Nice rumble at idle, heck of a pop, when opening the throttle . I have one concern though...It feels like I lost a bit of the low end torque compared to my stockers. Maybe the roll on acceleration is just a lot smoother since I opened the intake and exhaust. Without a dyno run it's just really hard to tell, but I know one thing... it feels (and sounds) like a completely different bike. I mean that of course in a better way. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

I have Epco's on my 2007 speedmaster, I had the tors . The dealer talked me into buying the tors, I had them on for 3 months before getting the epcos. I love the sound of them.

I felt the same thing. Its not too bad, though. I suspected that might happen, given the larger diameter of the pipe at the header end. When I removed the reducer from a set of stockers it really cut the guts out of the low end. The Epcos aren't that bad, most people probably wouldn't notice it.

Did you rejet? Check out Pat's jetting calculator. When we ran the dyno's at the NH rally his calculator recommendation's were right on. With my set up it suggested 152.5 mains with my 45 pilots. My dyno was right on with only a suggestion of one shim under my needle. Got Epco's arriving tomorrow and will probably have to rejet again according to the calculator.
My mind and body are still out of tune
I hope they run into each other real soon "

I had the dealer install the pipes along with the freak kit, dynojet kit and carb balancing. I don't get any popping at deceleration whatsoever, only that high performance loud gurgling noise, which sounds sooo awesome .....having said that, maybe I'll toss the original pipes instead of creating some unnecessary project. I just seem to have a hard time throwing some of the shiny things away

If you want to sell me your TOR's, I'd be interested.
Thanks, Jim

Well, I just read in the paper, that some cities around here are trying to ban motorcycles (yes, you heard right) on the strip. Yes, indeedy....they want to call the cops on anybody who revs their engine. I'll further this discovery on another topic, but I think I'm gonna keep the stock pipes for now.
